PA Wilds
Every summer, hundreds of people travel to the northwestern corner of the Pennsylvania Wilds to canoe and kayak the Allegheny River. It’s easy to understand why. The Allegheny is part of the nation’s Wild and Scenic Rivers System. It boasts several campgrounds, trails, historical sites and other points of interest, National Geographic Adventure such as the Allegheny National Forest. Paddlers share the calm and scenic waterway with eagles, Great Blue Heron, snapping turtles, white tailed-deer and many other species. In 2003, National Geographic Adventure named the Allegheny River one of the nation's "40 Great Fall Weekend Getaways". Whether you’re looking for a relaxing day trip with your buddies or an overnighter to teach the kids camping skills, we’re here to help. Just be careful – you might get hooked. Some of our groups have been coming back for more than 20 years.

OUTBACK ADVENTURES has been renting canoes since 1993. We are one of the largest canoe and kayak rentals on the Allegheny River, if not the largest. We now have 80 Old Town Discovery 169 Canoes in our livery. We have also been renting kayaks for 19 years and have over 60 kayaks in our stable, giving us the largest number and selection in the area. We are located at the southern edge of the Allegheny National Forest, which gives you full access to the Allegheny National Forest River Wilderness Canoe Trail. This is important when selecting a livery because there are no pickups, you end up back at your car, whether taking a 2 hour or a 3 day trip, (no waiting for someone to pick you up). All islands are part of the Allegheny National Forest and provide excellent camping. The river is dam controlled and remains floatable all summer.
